    Self-assessment FAQs

Do I need to file a self-assessment return?
Generally if you’re a company director, self-employed, a landlord, or have income that isn’t fully taxed through PAYE, you do. If you’re not sure, get in touch and we’ll tell you.
Can you do just my self-assessment?
Yes — it’s available as a standalone service, whether or not we do your company accounting.
I’ve left it late — can you still help?
Often, yes. The sooner you contact us the better, but get in touch and we’ll do our best to get you filed and avoid penalties.
    What information do you need?
Details of your income for the tax year — for example P60/P45, dividend vouchers, rental income and expenses, and any other income. We’ll send you a simple checklist.
    What does it cost?
It depends on the complexity of your return. Get in touch and we’ll give you a clear quote up front.
